  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1 (14.5 ounce) can diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 (16 ounce) package shredded cabbage (about 4 cups)

Instructions

  1. Season beef with /teaspoon salt and /teaspoon pepper.
  2. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Add beef and onion; cook until beef is browned and onion is tender, about -minutes, breaking up beef into crumbles.
  4. Drain off any excess fat.
  5. Stir in diced tomatoes, teaspoon salt, /teaspoon pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, basil, paprika, and cayenne pepper.
  6. Add cabbage; stir to combine.
  7. Cover and cook over medium heat until cabbage is tender, about -minutes, stirring occasionally.

Recipe Notes & Tips

For a spicier dish, increase the cayenne pepper to 1/4 teaspoon.
