Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Unroll one pie crust into a 9-inch pie plate. Press firmly against the bottom and sides.
- In a large bowl, combine sliced apples, granulated sugar, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Toss to coat.
- Pour the apple mixture into the prepared pie crust.
- Dot the top of the apples with butter pieces.
- Drizzle the caramel ice cream topping over the apples.
- Unroll the second pie crust and place it over the filling. Trim and crimp the edges.
- Cut several slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
- Bake at 425°F (220°C) for 15 minutes.
- Reduce oven temperature to 375°F (190°C) and bake for an additional 35-45 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
- If the crust begins to brown too quickly, cover the edges with aluminum foil.
- Let the pie cool on a wire rack for at least 2 hours before serving.
Tips & Notes
For a beautiful golden crust, you can brush the top crust with an egg wash (1 egg beaten with 1 tablespoon of water) before baking. If you don't have caramel ice cream topping, you can make your own by melting caramel candies with a little bit of cream.
