Instructions

  1. Bring 1 inch of water to a boil in a large skillet or Dutch oven. Add green beans, cover, and steam until bright green and crisp-tender, about 5 to 7 minutes. Drain well.
  2. Wipe out the skillet. Add olive oil and heat over medium heat until shimmering. Add garlic and red pepper flakes and cook until garlic is fragrant and lightly golden, about 1 minute. Be careful not to burn the garlic.
  3. Add the steamed green beans to the skillet. Toss to coat with the garlic and oil. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the green beans are heated through.
  4. Stir in parsley, chives, dill, and lemon juice. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve immediately.

Tips & Notes

For extra flavor, you can add a pinch of sugar to the steaming water. If you don't have fresh herbs, you can use 1 teaspoon of dried herbs (such as thyme or oregano) instead, but add them with the garlic.
